Over 50 Elephants Die After Coming into Contact with Unprotected Electric Fences In Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) reported that over 50 elephants have died this year due to collisions with unauthorized and unprotected electric fences.

A statement from CEB's media spokesperson, A.K.D. Parakramasinghe, confirmed that the board has implemented several measures to address this illegal activity. The public’s cooperation is also being sought to help protect wild elephants.

CEB urges the general public to submit information regarding such unprotected and unauthorized power lines by calling the numbers 0112 118767 or 1987.
