COLOMBO (News 1st); Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala announced in Parliament today that the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) of the police will resume operations next week.
Speaking during the adjournment debate on the Clean Sri Lanka initiative, Minister Wijepala provided clarity on the government's commitment to tackling financial crimes and corruption.
He promised parliament that authorities will conduct thorough investigations into all crimes that have been buried under the sands of time.
He said that the CID has 29,000 files, and with the re-establishment of the Financial Crimes Investigation Division next week, it will be assigned financial crime files to ensure justice.
This announcement underscores the government's dedication to addressing financial misconduct and ensuring that justice is served for the people of Sri Lanka.
