Kotahena Shooting Suspects Die in Shootout

COLOMBO(News 1st) - The two suspects arrested in connection with the shooting at the Galpoththa Junction, Kotahena have been killed in a police shootout.

Police Spokesperson SSP Buddhika Manatunga says that the police had gone to Crow Island with the suspects to find the firearms that were allegedly hidden by the suspects.

The suspects have attemped to snatched firearms from the police and shoot at them.

Police spokesperson said that the police had also opened fire.

Police spokesperson said that the suspects who were injured in the shooting died upon being admitted to the hospital.

A police officer who was also injured in the incident has been hospitalized.

The two suspects were arrested last night in connection with the murder of an individual in Galpoththa Junction, Kotahena .

They were arrested in Grandpass while fleeing the scene.

A 36-year-old man was killed in the shooting by motorcycle gunmen. 

Further investigations into the incident are underway.
