Sri Lanka Seeks Stronger Ties with Russia Amid Global Changes

COLOMBO (News 1st): Thilaka Jayasundara, Secretary of the Ministry of Industries, expressed a strong desire to develop a robust relationship with the Russian government and its industries. Speaking in Colombo on Wednesday (2) Jayasundara highlighted the importance of global changes and the potential benefits of improved relations between Russia and the United States.

"We love to develop a proper and strong relationship with the Russian government, as well as the Russian industries," stated Jayasundara.

She emphasized the significance of the evolving global landscape and expressed hope for a strengthened relationship between Russia and America. "We are waiting until the Russian government develops a strong relationship with America. That is my expectation."

Jayasundara believes that positive discussions between the American and Russian presidents could lead to global benefits, particularly for countries like Sri Lanka. "I believe that the world will be benefited with all the countries, strong countries like Russia, and other countries will get the benefits, especially Sri Lanka," she noted.

As the Secretary of the Ministry of Industries, Jayasundara is optimistic about the opportunities that could arise from a strong tie-up with the Russian government. "I am waiting to see the results. So I believe that that may be a good opportunity for us to develop a strong tie-up with the Russian government," she noted.
