USD 1 Mn Aid to Earthquake-Hit Myanmar From Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lankan Cabinet of Ministers has announced a comprehensive relief package to support the people affected by the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28, 2025.

Recognizing the long-standing close relationship between Sri Lanka and Myanmar as two Buddhist states, the Cabinet of Ministers has decided to extend the following contributions to provide relief to the people of Myanmar:

- Financial Aid: Sri Lanka will provide USD 1 million in financial assistance.

- Dry Rations: Dry rations collected under the guidance of Buddhist theros will be transported immediately to Myanmar with the mediation of the Government.

- Relief Services: A group of relief services, including medical officers and other health staff, will be stationed on alert for immediate departure to Myanmar at any time.
