Parliament Notifies Election Commission of Vacancy Following MP's Death

COLOMBO (News 1st); The sudden demise of Kosala Nuwan Jayaweera, a Member of Parliament from the National People's Power, has resulted in a vacancy in the parliamentary seat.

The Parliament has officially notified the Election Commission of this development.

The Election Commission confirmed that Acting Secretary General of Parliament, Chaminda Kularatne, informed the Chairman of the Election Commission about the vacancy in the 10th Parliament, effective from yesterday.

Kosala Nuwan Jayaweera passed away yesterday due to a sudden illness at the age of 38.
