Ranil's Top Security Officer Reassigned

COLOMBO (News 1st); Police Inspector Ashoka Ariyawansa, who has long served as the personal security officer for former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, has been transferred to the Kankesanthurai Police Division with immediate effect. 

This transfer comes in the wake of an incident involving a phone call made by Inspector Ariyawansa to an officer at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). 

The call was allegedly made to facilitate a phone call between Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, also known as Pillayan, who is currently in CID custody, and Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Inspector Ariyawansa has been a trusted member of Wickremesinghe's security detail for an extended period. 

The decision to reassign him was made by the Acting Inspector General of Police.
