Arrest Warrant Issued for Mahindananda Over Fertilizer Scam

Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali today issued an arrest warrant for former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage.

This was in response to a request made to the court by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

Aluthgamage is accused in connection with the illegal importation of a substandard stock of organic fertilizer from China.

According to officers of the Bribery Commission, when they went to his residence in Rajagiriya as per the court-issued warrant, he was not present at the location.
