COLOMBO (News 1st); The strike launched by postal and telecommunication officers entered its second consecutive day, causing widespread disruptions to services across the country.
The trade union action, which began at midnight on May 28, was initiated in protest over delays in recruitment procedures and is centered around ten key demands, according to union representatives.
As a result, several services provided by the Department of Posts were severely affected yesterday, including the delivery of letters and parcels.
Manjula Jayasundara, Secretary of the Postal and Telecommunication Officers’ Union, stated that the strike has significantly disrupted mail distribution operations nationwide.
