Sri Lanka Mourns the Passing of General Hamilton Wanasinghe

COLOMBO (News 1st); General Hamilton Wanasinghe, the 11th Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, has passed away at the age of 90.

The announcement was made by Army Spokesman Brigadier Varuna Gamage, who confirmed that the retired general died early this morning while receiving treatment at the Army Hospital in Narahenpita.

General Wanasinghe served the Sri Lankan military with distinction for over four decades, playing a pivotal role in national defense during a critical period in the country’s history.

He is also the father of former Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General Sanjaya Wanasinghe.
