Colombo(News 1st); Another important round of discussions on easing tariffs will take place next week.
The meeting will be held online between officials from Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Finance and the Office of the United States Trade Representative.
The Sri Lankan delegation said they expect progress in the talks before August 1.
Yesterday, an online discussion was also held between the President and the US Trade Representative's Ambassador regarding tariff reductions.
The United States has announced a 30 percent tariff on goods imported from Sri Lanka, which will come into effect from August 1.
The Sri Lankan government is continuing a series of discussions with the US in an effort to reduce this tariff rate.
