Police Sergeant Arrested for Stealing Pistol from Station Armoury

COLOMBO (News 1st); A police sergeant has been arrested following allegations that he stole a service pistol from the armoury of the Kompanna Veediya Police Station.

According to police sources, the officer is accused of unlawfully removing the firearm from the station’s secured weapons storage. 

The pistol in question has not yet been recovered, and a search operation is currently underway.

The suspect is expected to be produced before court, with police seeking a detention order to facilitate further interrogation.
