Sergeant Steals Gun, Sells It for Rs. 100,000!

COLOMBO (News 1st); A police sergeant attached to the Kompanna Veediya Police Station has been arrested for allegedly stealing a revolver and eight rounds of ammunition from the station’s armoury.

According to police sources, the suspect had accessed the weapon from a secured locker within the station’s charge room. The theft was confirmed after reviewing footage from the station’s security cameras, which captured the sergeant removing the revolver.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to selling the stolen firearm for Rs. 100,000.

The court has granted permission to detain the suspect for seven days for further questioning.

Police Spokesperson SSP F. U. Wootler stated that investigators suspect the sergeant may have links to organized criminal groups.

Further investigations into the incident are currently underway.
