COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have arrested a key associate of notorious organized crime figure Sujeewa Ruwan Kumara, alias Loku Patty, during a special operation in Ambalangoda.

The suspect, who served as a kapu mahaththaya or shaman at a local shrine, was taken into custody by the Police Special Task Force (STF).

Investigations revealed that Rs. 336.6 million, allegedly earned through narcotics trafficking, had been deposited into the suspect’s bank account by 36 members of Loku Patty’s network.

Police say the funds were later distributed to at least three other individuals under Loku Patty’s instructions for further illicit operations.

Loku Paty, currently held at Boossa High-Security Prison, remains under investigation for orchestrating criminal activities from behind bars.

Authorities disclosed that a mobile phone found in his possession was destroyed by him during a recent search.
