COLOMBO (News 1st): During this year (2025), the Sri Lanka Navy has seized narcotics valued at approximately Rs. 400 billion.
The total quantity of drugs seized by the Navy amounts to 54,870 kg.
This includes 1,888 kg of crystal methamphetamine (ICE), 754 kg of heroin, 5,267 kg of Kerala cannabis, all of which confiscated under Navy operations.
While a total 1,683,691 of narcotic pills were seized by the Navy.
Navy Spokesperson Commander Buddhika Sampath said that intensive measures are underway to curb drug trafficking via maritime routes, including the deployment of long-range vessels for strengthened operations.
