Two Arrested in Southern Firearms Raids

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have made two significant arrests in the Southern Province, uncovering a cache of live ammunition and a foreign-made firearm in separate operations.

In Hungama’s Ranna area, a 47-year-old suspect was taken into custody after officers from the Police Special Task Force discovered 31 live rounds, including 26 rounds of 9mm caliber and five additional bullets. 

Meanwhile, in Ambalangoda’s Idamthota, a 46-year-old man was arrested with a foreign-manufactured repeater-type firearm. 

The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Balapitiya Magistrate’s Court today.
