Hospitals Over Capacity as Dengue Surge Claims 21 Lives, Including Five Schoolchildren

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Health states that hospitals have exceeded their capacity due to a rapid spike in reported dengue patients.

The Acting Director of the National Dengue Control Unit, Dr. Kapila Kannangara, stated that 21 people have died due to dengue so far, and five among them are school students.

In the face of rising reported dengue cases, the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government has taken steps to implement a Dengue Control Week starting from the 15th.

It will be implemented until the upcoming 20th, covering public places and educational institutions.
