Second Randoli Perahera Parades Through Historic Kandy City

COLOMBO (News 1st); The second Randoli Perahera of the historic Kandy Esala Perahera is scheduled to take to the streets tonight, drawing thousands of devotees and spectators to Sri Lanka’s hill capital.

The procession is set to commence at 7.00 p.m. from the Sri Dalada Maligawa, proceeding eastward before travelling along Dalada Veediya, D.S. Senanayake Street, Colombo Street, Yatinuwara Street, Raja Veediya, E.L. Senanayake Street, Cross Street and once again along D.S. Senanayake Street. The perahera will then proceed up Raja Veediya before concluding its route.

The Kandy Esala Perahera, one of Sri Lanka’s most revered cultural and religious events, is held annually in homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic enshrined at the Sri Dalada Maligawa.

Meanwhile, the first Randoli Perahera was held last night in a colourful and spectacular display, featuring elaborately adorned elephants, traditional dancers, drummers and cultural performers, captivating large crowds gathered along the procession route.
