Court Acquits Gammanpila In Misappropriation Case

COLOMBO (News 1st); An order was issued by the Colombo High Court today acquitting and releasing former Minister Udaya Gammanpila from charges alleging that he criminally breached trust involving Rs. 21 million through the alleged misappropriation of company shares belonging to an Australian businessman.

The order was delivered by Colombo High Court Judge Nadee Aparna Suwandurugoda.

Delivering the verdict, the Judge stated that the prosecution had failed to prove the charges against the accused beyond a reasonable doubt.

Accordingly, the Judge ordered that the defendant be acquitted and released of all charges.
