COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka is preparing to welcome international DJ sensation DJ Snake for the Senter Music Festival at Port City Colombo this weekend, with organisers expecting the event to attract international visitors and give a boost to the country’s event-based tourism industry.
DJ Mass, speaking ahead of the festival, described DJ Snake as the biggest DJ to perform in Sri Lanka to date, inviting the public to welcome the international star and experience what he said would be a landmark event for the local entertainment industry.
He noted that music fans from India, the Maldives, Pakistan and Bangladesh have already purchased tickets, highlighting the festival’s potential to draw international audiences to Sri Lanka.
“From Sri Lanka to the world” has long been a vision for the country’s entertainment industry, DJ Mass said. However, he believes the festival represents an opportunity to bring the world to Sri Lanka by attracting internationally renowned performers and audiences.
He added that bringing DJ Snake to the country could open doors for future international performances, potentially paving the way for artists such as David Guetta and Justin Bieber.
DJ Mass also stressed that the festival represents more than a musical event, describing it as an opportunity to support the wider Sri Lankan entertainment industry and the many professionals working behind the scenes, from cleaners and engineers to production crews, technical teams, cameramen and reporters.
The festival will feature a mix of local and international performers, including emerging Sri Lankan talent and regional DJs from countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, the Maldives and India.
DJ Snake is set to headline the event, with his performance scheduled for October 31.
The Maharaja Media Network has joined the festival as the strategic partner, with Sirasa, YES FM and Y FM supporting the event through its media platforms.
