Sri Lanka is immersed in the joy of Sinhala-Tamil New Year festivities. Last night, celebrants welcomed the new year by undertaking tasks under the same auspicious sign, uniting the nation in tradition.
The time for anointing oil is fixed for tomorrow at 10:17 AM and should be done so clad in white while facing the direction of South.
The national oil anointing ceremony (hisa thel gama), a significant auspicious ceremony during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festivities, is scheduled to take place tomorrow at 10:17 AM at the Hendala Purana Raja Maha Viharaya, Wattala.
Also, the last auspicious ritual of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festivities, tree planting, is set for April 18 and it has been designated as ‘Moringa (Murunga) Day’ by the Indigenous Medicine Ministry.
This initiative, by the State Minister of Indigenous Medicine, aims to raise awareness about the Moringa plant's medicinal properties.
Looking ahead, leaving for work is fixed for Wednesday at 6:52 AM and should be done so clad in green coloured clothes while facing the North when leaving the house.
