Veteran Singer Priya Suriyasena Passes Away at 80

COLOMBO (News 1st): Veteran singer and musician Priya Suriyasena has passed away at the age 80, while receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital, Colombo.

Mortal remains of the late singer will be placed at his residence in Nugegoda, Gangodawila from tomorrow onwards, for the general public to pay their respects. 

Priya Suriyasena entered the music industry in 1968, captivating audiences with his performances of lively baila songs. 

In 1972, he expanded his musical range, transitioning to the soulful and heartfelt style of Sinhala light music.

"Heta Dawase Api Dedena," "Andura Andura Mage," "Sarathasa Nivaa," "Kiri Sayure," "Aetha Ran Viman," and "Praneetha Mee Bindu" are some of the timeless songs that captured the hearts of millions of Sri Lankans, cementing his legacy as a beloved icon in the country's music industry.
