No Candidate Secures Majority: Second-Preference Votes to Decide Sri Lanka’s Next President

Colombo (News 1st): The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has announced that no presidential candidate has secured the required 50% of the vote. 

Consequently, the Commission has instructed all district returning offices to proceed with the counting of second-preference votes.

The process is currently underway and is expected to take approximately three hours to complete. 

Following this, the Election Commission will declare the final results.
