Teacher Admits to Examination Leak

COLOMBO (News 1st); A teacher has admitted to leaking the answer sheets for the Grade 6 and 7 Geography exams in the North Central Province on social media. This revelation came to light during an investigation into the incident.

Sirimewan Dharmasena, the Secretary of Education for the North Central Province, stated that the exams were scheduled to be held on the 10th of this month. Based on the investigation report, further actions will be taken against the teacher involved.

In the meantime, the North Central Provincial Department of Education has announced that the term tests for Grade 11, which were temporarily suspended, will be conducted within the next 10 days. These tests will cover subjects that were reportedly leaked.

Dharmasena also mentioned that the leaked exam papers will be re-prepared. 

Additionally, the investigation into the leakage of Grade 11 exam papers in government schools in the North Central Province has been handed over to the Anuradhapura District Crime Investigation Division, under the direction of the Senior Superintendent of Police in Anuradhapura.

The Provincial Department of Education lodged two complaints with the Anuradhapura Police yesterday regarding the leaked exam papers. Dharmasena further stated that an investigation team will be appointed to conduct a thorough inquiry into the incident.

All Grade 11 examinations in government schools in the North Central Province have been canceled until further notice due to the leakage of Sinhala Literature, Science, and English exam papers. 

Considering the situation, the term tests scheduled for today and tomorrow have been postponed.
