COLOMBO (News1st); Former State Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, also known as Pillayan, will be detained for questioning, according to police reports. He was arrested last night (8) in Batticaloa.
A special team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) apprehended Pillayan at his party office in Batticaloa and subsequently transported him to Colombo.
The arrest is in connection with the abduction and disappearance of Professor Sivasubramaniam Ravindranath, the Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, on December 15, 2006.
Pillayan is being held for further investigation into this case.
