COLOMBO (News 1st); The Matara Magistrate's Court today (24) ordered the release on bail of ASP Neville de Silva, the former Director of the Colombo Crime Division. This decision came after de Silva surrendered to the court earlier today.
Magistrate Aruna Buddhadasa granted de Silva bail on two personal sureties of Rs 1 million each. Additionally, a travel ban was imposed on him.
Previously, the Matara Magistrate Court had issued warrants for the arrest of Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon, former Colombo Crime Division Director Neville de Silva, and six others.
These warrants were in connection with the fatal shooting of a Colombo Crime Division officer near a hotel in Weligama, Matara, on December 31, 2023.
