COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) announced that the first generator of the Norochcholai Power Plant will be reconnected to the national grid the day after tomorrow (8).
The generator was out of service for 25 days due to scheduled maintenance, which began on the 13th of June.
According to CEB Media Spokesperson Dhammike Wimalaratne, maintenance work has now been completed.
Once reconnected, the generator will contribute 300 megawatts of electricity to the national grid.
Meanwhile, hydroelectricity accounted for the highest share of electricity generation yesterday, producing 39.8% of the total output. Thermal power contributed 24.9% of the day’s total electricity production.
