Dr. Harini Amarasuriya Outlines Education Reform Plan to Parliament

COLOMBO (News 1st): Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has taken steps to brief members of Parliament on the proposed new education reforms.

According to the Prime Minister’s Media Unit, MPs were informed yesterday about the key aspects of the reforms, including their goals and objectives, guiding principles, core pillars, curriculum changes, implementation strategies, and teacher training.

The Ministry of Education, the National Institute of Education, and the National Education Commission provided further clarification on how the reforms will be carried out and monitored.

The Media Unit stated that the primary aim of the reforms is to prepare citizens who are capable of meeting the challenges of the 21st century, contributing to sustainable national development and peace.

Following the briefing, parliamentarians shared their views and suggestions regarding the reforms. Special attention was also given to the importance of ensuring inclusive education for children with special needs and disabilities.
