COLOMBO (News 1st); Police have arrested two additional suspects in connection with the abduction and murder of a youth in the Andana area of Kahawatta.

The newly arrested suspects, both residents of Colombo, were produced before court and subsequently remanded pending further investigation.

The case related to a chilling incident on June 30, when a group of armed individuals—posing as police officers—entered a home in Koskaella, Andana, and forcibly abducted two brothers and a friend. The victims were taken in a jeep to a remote location, where they were shot at close range.

22-year-old Iranta Suranjana was killed in the attack, while one of his companions was injured. The elder brother managed to escape and alert authorities.

The alleged gunman was arrested earlier and remanded until August 4, following his appearance before the Pelmadulla Magistrate’s Court.

Authorities are also probing the use of the jeep involved in the crime, which was reportedly linked to organized criminal networks and drug trafficking operations.
