24-Hour Detention for Suspects In Borella Shooting

COLOMBO (News 1st): Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali has granted permission for police to detain and interrogate three suspects for 24 hours in connection with the Borella Sahaspura shooting, which claimed two lives and injured three others.

The suspects were presented before the magistrate following their arrest in relation to the August 7 incident, where two gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on a group of youths at the Sahaspura Grounds.

One suspect previously arrested in the case has been remanded until August 25, as ordered by the court.

The shooting left two individuals dead and three others injured, all of whom were rushed to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment.
