Heavy Rainfall Expected in Several Areas Due to Atmospheric Disturbances

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Meteorology says that due to the prevailing atmospheric disturbances, several areas of the island are likely to experience rainfall today as well.

Its Director Meryl Mendis stated that showers exceeding 100 millimeters could be expected in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western Provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

He urged the public to take necessary precautions against strong winds and lightning that may occur during thundershowers.

Meanwhile, the landslide early warning issued for several areas in seven districts remains in effect.

These include parts of the Kandy, Kegalle, Badulla, Matara, Monaragala, Nuwara Eliya, and Ratnapura districts, where residents have been advised to remain vigilant.
