COLOMBO (News 1st): Matara Magistrate's Court today revealed that Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa had booked air tickets to come to Sri Lanka but had later cancelled them.
This information was revealed when the case was taken up, regarding the purchase of land in Brownshill, Matara using money earned through illicit means.
Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa, his wife's sister Ayoma Galappaththi, her husband Tissa Galappaththi, and Muditha Jayakody are named as the respondents in this case.
Basil Rajapaksa and Ayoma Galappaththi did not appear in court, while their sureties were present.
President's Counsel Anil Silva, representing Basil Rajapaksa, submitted a document containing several of his client's medical records to the court.
Deputy Solicitor General Lakmini Girihagama, appearing for the Attorney General, after reviewing the medical reports, highlighted several contradictions regarding the suspect's medical conditions.
