Yevan David, “The Sri Lankan Lion on the Track,” has officially kicked off his 2026 racing season with Kiwi Motorsport in the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Trophy in New Zealand.

The 2026 Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Trophy, New Zealand’s premier open-wheel championship, is being contested over four rounds across January and early February, serving as a key build-up to the international racing season.

Yevan has also created history by becoming the first Sri Lankan to compete in New Zealand’s top single-seater championship.

Making an impressive start to his campaign, Yevan completed his first race weekend in New Zealand with consistent top-ten finishes in every race, underlining a strong and confident beginning to the season.

This comes on the back of a breakthrough 2025 Euroformula Open Championship campaign, where he clinched the Rookie title and finished second overall, becoming the first Sri Lankan ever to achieve both milestones.

His Euroformula season featured multiple race wins and podium finishes, highlighting his speed, race craft, and consistency at a highly competitive international level.

In New Zealand, Yevan is testing himself against a strong field of emerging global talents as part of his preparation for the 2026 FIA Formula 3 Championship, where he is set to make history once again as Sri Lanka’s first Formula 3 driver.

The Oceania Trophy’s fast-paced, four-week format offers crucial seat time and high-intensity racing ahead of his full-season F3 debut later this year.

From karting to Formula 4 and Euroformula, Yevan David’s steady rise continues to position him as one of Sri Lanka’s most promising motorsport prospects, with his sights firmly set on climbing the single-seater ladder toward Formula 1.
