COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Health says that 1,800 cases of Leptospirosis commonly known as Rat fever have been reported across the island so far this year.
Consultant Epidemiologist Thushani Dabarera stated that the majority of cases were reported from the Ratnapura, Galle, Kegalle, Kalutara, and Monaragala districts.
She also warned that the risk of leptospirosis spreading increases with the start of the harvesting season.
