Ministry Advises Against Online Classes for Young Children

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has advised parents not to send children between the ages of 3 to 5 for online classes.

Issuing a statement, the Ministry said teaching children of this age on online platforms goes against the principles of educational psychology and child development.

The Ministry highlighted that excessive exposure to technology can harm the mental and physical health of young children

According to educational psychology, Learning at this age, should occur through activity-based methods and social interaction.

Failure to provide such an environment can result in Impaired development of social skills, Reduced attention span and Impaired creative thinking

Therefore, the Ministry urges parents to avoid online classes that could hinder the natural development of their young children.
