Chinese National Arrested at BIA With Smuggled Cigarettes

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A 27-year-old Chinese national from Xinjiang province was detained at the Bandaranaike International Airport arrivals terminal this morning with a large consignment of cigarettes.
The suspect arrived from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, carrying 240 cartons of Chinese-made cigarettes across four luggages.
Authorities recovered a total of 48,000 cigarettes, with an estimated value of Rs. 7.2 million.
