Suspect Arrested With Large Stock Of Explosives At Southern Expressway Entry Point

COLOMBO (News 1st); A suspect transporting a stock of explosives carefully hidden in a cab has been arrested at the Kasagala entrance of the Southern Expressway.

The arrest was made during an inspection conducted by officers from the Tangalle Police.

Police have also seized 14 kilograms of gunpowder, 240 gelatin sticks, 350 kilograms of ammonia, 490 detonators, and a stock of gunpowder wire measuring 5,600 feet from his possession.

The arrested person is a 57-year-old resident of the Mulkirigala area.

During investigations, it was revealed that the explosives were being transported for rock crushing.
