COLOMBO (News 1st); A plot of land and a building belonging to the Railway Department, located in Nawalapitiya town—which housed the Mahindananda Aluthgamage Foundation and the Nawalapitiya Coordination Office—were reclaimed by the Railway Department today.
Former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage had utilized this land for 25 years through the Mahindananda Aluthgamage Foundation, based on a lease agreement.
A three-story building had been constructed on a 13.25-perch portion of the land, which housed the Mahindananda Aluthgamage Foundation and the Nawalapitiya Coordination Office.
Our correspondent reported that an adjacent plot of land measuring 72.5 perches had also been utilized.
Chamika Dharmathilaka, Secretary of the Mahindananda Aluthgamage Foundation, stated that the land had been acquired under a lease agreement valid until 2028.
