COLOMBO (News 1st); The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and the United National Party (UNP) could work together in the future under a dual leadership arrangement, UNP Deputy General Secretary for Political Mobilisation Harin Fernando said.

Speaking on the possibility of political collaboration, Fernando said both parties have the potential to move forward jointly, even under the leadership of two leaders. He said leadership could be provided by either Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa or former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, noting that the process could also allow space for the emergence of new leaders.

Fernando said that Sri Lanka has a strong pool of capable politicians within these parties, naming figures such as Harsha de Silva, Ruwan Wijewardene and Sujeewa Senasinghe. He described the combined strength of the parties as significant and called for greater unity at the grassroots level.

He invited people across the country to come together, emphasising that national progress requires collective effort and cooperation rather than division.
