Over Three Thousand People Affected By Severe Weather Across Seven Districts

COLOMBO (News 1st); Adverse weather conditions across the island have now impacted 3,475 people from 1,113 families in seven districts. 

The Disaster Management Center identifies the affected areas as Ratnapura, Galle, Monaragala, Batticaloa, Kalutara, Colombo, and Puttalam. 

Tragically, one death has been reported in the Batticaloa area due to the severe conditions. 

The heavy rains and strong winds have also caused partial damage to 88 houses. 

In response, authorities have moved 1,310 people to safety. 

Currently, 489 families are being sheltered in eight relief centers across the Puttalam, Kalutara, and Ratnapura districts.
