Dengue Cases Rise to 48,287 Islandwide

COLOMBO (News 1st): The number of dengue cases reported in the country so far has risen to 48,287.

This includes 757 cases reported within the past 24 hours.

The number of dengue related deaths reported so far stands at 29.

Meanwhile, a special mosquito control program begins today covering high-risk Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions.

The National Dengue Control Unit stated that it will be implemented for three days starting today.

The Dengue Control Unit mentioned that the objective is to accelerate mosquito control activities in 112 MOH divisions where dengue is spreading rapidly.

Meanwhile, the National Dengue Control Unit states that mosquito breeding premises have been identified in 268 schools across the country.

Its entomologist, Sakunthala Janaki, said that 67 of them are schools located in the Western Province.
