Minister Announces Restart Of 50,000 Suspended Housing Units

COLOMBO (News 1st): Minister of Housing and Construction Dr. Susil Ranasinghe stated in Parliament today that the construction of 50,000 houses, which commenced between 2019 and 2024 but was halted halfway, will be resumed immediately.

The Minister further stated that an expert committee, comprising two former ministry secretaries, has been appointed to provide the necessary recommendations for this purpose.

He also mentioned that the construction work of these houses will recommence based on the recommendations of this committee.

Additionally, the Minister noted that a program is currently underway to construct 10,000 new houses for low-income earners.
