A/L Exams to Go Ahead | Special National Plan Activated

COLOMBO (News 1st); A comprehensive contingency plan has been prepared to ensure that the upcoming Grade Five Scholarship Examination and the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination are conducted without disruption, despite prevailing adverse weather conditions, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Defence A.G. Dharmathilaka said.

The plan has been formulated jointly by the Ministry of Defence, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), and the Department of Examinations, with the support of the Tri-Forces and the Police.

Speaking on the arrangements in place for the Advanced Level Examination scheduled to commence in the coming days, Dharmathilaka said authorities have coordinated extensively to guarantee that all candidates are able to sit for their examinations without difficulty.

“We have prepared a plan together with the Disaster Management Centre, the Tri-Forces and the Police regarding the Advanced Level Examination. I do not think any child will face any obstacle in participating in the examination. All transport facilities and alternative arrangements have been prepared,” he said.

He added that authorities have developed multiple contingency measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination and expressed confidence that it can be held without interruption.

“We have made all alternative plans required to conduct the examination. I believe it can be carried out without any disruption. If a situation arises where that is not possible, the Department of Examinations will take a decision. However, there will be no obstacle to conducting the Advanced Level Examination. Rainfall is also expected to ease from the 9th onwards,” Dharmathilaka stated.
