Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath To Undertake An Official Visit To Thailand Today (14)

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment & Tourism Vijitha Herath is scheduled to depart the island for Thailand for an official visit today.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that, at the invitation of Thailand’s Minister of Labour, Minister Vijitha Herath will undertake an official visit to Thailand from today until the day after tomorrow (16).

During the visit, Minister Herath is scheduled to hold discussions with Thailand’s Minister of Labour, the Minister of Tourism, and the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The discussions will focus on further developing bilteral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that bilateral cooperation in the labour sector between the two countries is expected to be further strengthened through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on labour cooperation and an agreement on the employment of Sri Lankan workers in Thailand.

The visit will provide an opportunity to enhance practical cooperation in the areas of 
tourism and employment, migration and labour mobility, strengthen people-to-people ties, and improve bilateral economic relations between Sri Lanka and Thailand.
