22A Supreme Court Determination To Be Presented In Parliament on Sept 22

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Supreme Court’s confidential determination on the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution is scheduled to be presented to Parliament by the Speaker on September 22.

The Speaker is expected to receive the confidential determination on Monday (September 21). 

Meanwhile, a party leaders’ meeting is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Monday to discuss the parliamentary business for the coming week. 

The meeting will be chaired by the Speaker.

The ruling party had previously announced that the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution and the Bill to amend the Judicature Act would be taken up for debate on the 24th and 25th.

On September 2, a five-judge Supreme Court bench, having concluded hearing petitions challenging the relevant Bills, announced that the confidential determination would be forwarded to the Speaker.
