Education Degree Holders to Be Recruited to Provincial Schools

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Education says approval has been granted to recruit graduates with Bachelor of Education degrees into the teaching service.

The Ministry stated that these teachers will be recruited to provincial schools at the provincial council level.

It also said instructions have been issued to conduct the relevant interviews before the end of this year.

Under this approval, graduates holding Education degrees from private universities will also be eligible for recruitment, subject to several criteria.

Accordingly, applicants must have completed a four-year degree programme, obtained the degree through a non-online mode of study, and completed 10 weeks of teaching practice at a government-recognised school.

The Ministry further stated that recruitment will be carried out based on existing vacancies in provincial schools.
