COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation said that they will address the backlog in issuing driving licenses in January.
According to the ministry, 130,000 driving licenses will be issued.
The ministry also emphasized that steps will be taken to transition to an online platform to provide services.
Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways, Dr. Prasanna Kumara Gunasena, and Deputy Minister of Ports and Aviation, Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku, conducted a surprise inspection at the Department of Motor Traffic in Werahera.
After reviewing the institution’s operations, the Deputy Ministers stated that, rather than relying on the current technical methods, steps will be taken to transform the department into a more efficient public institution by adopting modern and effective systems for improved public service.
