Sri Lankan Man Arrested Over Japan Import Fraud

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A suspect has been arrested by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with a massive vehicle import fraud involving Rs.20 million allegedly swindled from Japan.

According to police sources, the suspect—a resident of Maharagama—is accused of bypassing initial payments for 18 vehicles imported from Japan, thereby defrauding the funds intended for those transactions.

Investigations have revealed that the suspect had imported a total of 68 vehicles from Japan to Sri Lanka.
