Flood-Hit Hospitals Resume Services as National Parks Reopen To Tourists

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Health Ministry says basic treatment services will resume from today at the Mahiyanganaya Base Hospital and the Chilaw District General Hospital, which were affected by recent floods.

Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Specialist Dr. Anil Jasinghe stated that both hospitals were cleaned yesterday with assistance from the Sri Lanka Army.

Meanwhile, the Department of Wildlife Conservation has announced that national parks closed due to floods will reopen from today.

According to the Ministry of Environment , the Hunuwilagama entrance of Wilpattu National Park, the Palatupana entrance of Yala National Park, the Minneriya National Park, and the Kaudulla National Park will reopen, though only sections of damaged roads will be accessible to tourists.

In addition, five tourist bungalows in Kumana, Horton Plains, Wilpattu, Minneriya, and Yala National Parks that were closed due to flooding will reopen later this month.
