COLOMBO (News 1st); Another former U.S. Coast Guard cutter—the fourth of its kind—was officially transferred to the Sri Lanka Navy on 2nd December in Maryland, Baltimore.

Announcing the development on X (formerly Twitter), U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chung highlighted the strategic importance of the transfer, especially as Sri Lanka responds to Cyclone Ditwah.

"We’re reminded how much strong maritime partnerships matter," she noted.

The vessel, now embarking on a months-long voyage to Sri Lankan waters, is expected to bolster the nation’s capabilities in combating drug trafficking, smuggling, and enhancing search-and-rescue operations.
